I have always had a fondness for gryphons. Birds and cats are my two favorite species of animals. Being able to combine those in fantasy art is exciting and rewarding. I also wanted to try my hand at a tessellation. It was a challenge to keep straight and I had to fade it out after a few rows. I want to try again on another design to get a more accurate pattern.
I was introduced to gryphons when I was in around 16 years old. It was through a famous fantasy writer named Mercedes Lackey. I picked her book up with a neat looking dark bird-cat creature on the cover. That is the only reason I picked it up. It was enough; I was hooked from then on mythical animals and combining animals in my drawings to make new creatures.
Adult coloring pages are a fun way to relieve stress and escape the world for a while. They let your mind wander to places away from daily hassles and aches. You can do them solitary like a tiger, or in a group like deer (coloring groups can be fun to start!). They are a quiet activity, though a lot of people love to put on some tunes while they zone out to the coloring vibes. They also make a good travel companion: found yourself abducted by aliens and stuck in the waiting room of the mothership?
